Food burger over a campfire
Food burger over a campfire
One of the many pleasures of camping is having a meal cooked over a campfire. I’m usually busy making sure young kids are active. Exterior This meal is perfect for preparing the rest of the family on their own.
What you need to make a simple meal out of aluminum foil
Minus the dirty camping shoes in the background…
- Chips
- Burger
- Carrots
- Onions
- Potato
- salt
- Pepper
First, tear off a square piece of 12″ x 12″ aluminum foil. This will contain all the food you are about to cook.
Next, place as many burgers as you want in the middle of your chips. Make sure to flatten the burgers so they cook well and quickly. If you roll it into a ball in the middle, it will take longer to simmer over the fire.
You will then want to arrange the vegetables around the meat on the tin foil.
Add any seasoning to your food before you coat it all together. We use salt, pepper and a little butter in our meals.
Then roll the hamburger chips tightly. Make sure there are no gaps or tears in the chips, as this will allow any burger juice you want to keep from escaping.
Finally, carefully place your food on the grill/stove for 10-15 minutes. You can also put it directly on a good charcoal bed, but you need to be extra careful when doing this because it is easier to burn the food.
Flip and cook for another 10 minutes. While you wait, play a game of fishing with the kids.
Make sure to check the meat before you start eating your food. Getting sick while camping is no fun!
The whole family enjoyed their personalized tin foil and didn’t use up too many plates!
